A recent study seems to confirm the link between eating processed meat, such as bacon and sausages, and the risk of developing Dementia in later life.
We are already aware of the links between processed meats and developing cancer or diabetes, but this is a new blow for anyone who is already at risk of Dementia.
Worryingly, just one rasher of bacon a day could increase your chances of developing this mind wasting disease by nearly 50%.
The study also found that eating unprocessed meats daily actually reduces your chances of developing Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease, which goes against other studies which show that both processed and unprocessed meats have high health risks.
As there are a lot of factors which can contribute to the risk of developing Dementia or Alzheimer's, the best advice is to eat healthily, limit or cut out entirely consumption of processed meats, and remember 'everything in moderation'.
